The highly anticipated Vans US Open of Surfing kicked off this morning with an exciting day of Men’s Jr. Pro competition! In 3-5' peaky surf, two rounds of waves, and 64 competitors, the following 16 surfers have advanced to the quarterfinals: Seth Moniz, Hiroto Arai, Italo Ferreira, Ezekiel Lau, Carlos Munoz, Conner Coffin, Joshua Moniz, Kaimana Jaquias, Kanoa Igarashi, Jake Sylvester, Derek Peters, and Jake Halstead, Taylor Clark, Ramzi Boukhiam, Keanu Asing, and Kalani David. Today's Highest Heat score was by Cooper Chapman, a 16.42 in Heat 16 of the Round of 64. Today's Highest Wave score was by Conner Coffin, an 8.97 in Heat 1 of the Round of 32. Competition starts tomrorow at 8:00am with the Mens Trials, and finishing with two rounds of the Womens Jr Pro.
