Australian Skaters, Musicians and Artists Hit China in Landmark Cultural Exchange
Skate of Mind tour connects young Australians and Chinese communities through skateboarding, music and digital art.
A unique people-to-people exchange between Australian and Chinese young people kicks off on 14 May as the Skate of Mind tour begins a ten-day journey through Hong Kong, Guangzhou, and Shanghai.
Running from 14 to 23 May, the tour brings together Australian skateboarders, musicians and digital artists to deliver community workshops and events in partnership with Chinese skate schools and Olympic athletes — building genuine friendships through a shared love of skateboarding and creative expression.
Developed by Big hART, the project taps into skateboarding’s status as the world’s fastest-growing sport — a culture with its own universal language that crosses every national border.
The tour will visit skateparks in Hong Kong, travelling to skateparks in Guangzhou, before wrapping up with a week-long residency in Shanghai — bringing Australian and Chinese musicians, digital artists and skateboarders together to collaborate and create.
Community workshops throughout the tour will focus on skateboarding skill-sharing, music and digital art, with content captured for online audiences to extend the project’s reach far beyond the communities visited.
The China tour is the first leg of a broader pilot program supported by the Australian Government and the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations, with an Australian tour of the Northern Territory and Tasmania to follow in August 2026.

About Skate of Mind
Skate of Mind is a touring collective of skaters, filmmakers, photographers, and artists. Through community events, workshops, and immersive arts experiences in regional communities, we promote youth mental health and social cohesion—using skateboarding as a bridge. The Skate of Mind 2026/27 Tour aims to build connection between Australian and Chinese young people through skateboarding, music and film.

澳大利亚滑手、音乐人与艺术家开启具有里程碑意义的中国文化交流之旅
Skate of Mind 巡回项目通过滑板、音乐与数字艺术连接澳大利亚青年与中国社区
随着 Skate of Mind 巡回项目于 5 月 14 日正式开启为期十天的香港、广州及上海之旅，一场独特的中澳青年人文交流活动也同步展开。
本次巡回活动将于 5 月 14 日至 23 日举行，澳大利亚滑手、音乐人与数字艺术家将携手中国滑板学校及奥运选手，共同举办社区工作坊与交流活动，并通过对滑板文化与创意表达的共同热爱，建立真挚的友谊。
该项目由 Big hART 发起，聚焦滑板这项全球发展迅猛的运动，以及其跨越语言与国界、连接不同背景人群的独特文化属性。
巡回团队将先后走访香港与广州的多个滑板公园，并最终在上海开展为期一周的驻地活动，汇聚中澳两国的音乐人、数字艺术家与滑手，共同交流与创作。
整个巡回期间举办的社区工作坊将围绕滑板技巧交流、音乐与数字艺术展开，相关内容也将被记录并发布至线上平台，让项目影响力进一步延伸至更多社区。
此次中国巡回交流是 Skate of Mind 更大规模试点计划的第一阶段。该计划由澳大利亚政府及澳中基金会 (National Foundation for Australia-China Relations) 支持，并将于 2026 年 8 月继续在澳大利亚北领地与塔斯马尼亚开展巡回活动。
