Chocolate Skateboards has unveiled its latest collection, Chocolate Girls, a series of eight skateboards and T-shirts created with artist Todd Bratrud. A long-time skater, Bratrud ha conjured up many memorable graphics over the past decade working in-house and on projects for some of skateboarding’s most creative companies. Vincent Alvarez, Elijah Berle, Justin Eldridge, Kenny Anderson, Marc Johnson, Raven Tershy, Stevie Perez, and Gino Ianucci each get a their own beauty in the series.

Bratrud took a few minutes away from his artwork to tell us how the Chocolate Girls project went down:
你是怎么认识Chocolate队伍的人，如何参与到这次设计之中？
我一直是Chocolate的粉丝，也是Andy Jenkins的朋友，而且早就知道Malto了。我曾经用Malto摩托队给Malto设计了图案。一年之中画了大概有4块，我觉得画出来很好看，Andy告诉我了设计板面这事，就引起了我的兴趣
Chocolate Girls设计灵感来自哪里？
我们希望做出60年代间谍小说封面那种感觉，Chocolate的伙计们把草图给了我，问我能不能将他们进一步美化，做些这样的事情
设计时有什么特殊的事情？
我的朋友过来和这些图案合了影...
你为什么跟Chocolate合作？
因为它是Chocolate/Girl啊！我喜欢里面所有的滑手，从一开始我就非常关注Chocolate/Girl，我绝对是个粉丝，能有任何跟他们合作的机会都是荣幸！

我在为Girl设计一系列有深度的板面呢

我的赶快回去设计了....
How did you meet the Chocolate crew and get involved with this project?
I have been a fan and friend of Andy Jenkins for a long time and known Malto forever as well. I did a recurring graphic for Sean Malto based on his bike gang. There were 4 graphics in total over a year or something like that. I think that turned out kinda cool. Andy hit me up with this idea and it sounded like fun.
What was the inspiration for the Chocolate Girls project?
We wanted to recreate the feel of classic spy novel covers from the ’60s. The guys at Chocolate gave me some sketches and asked if I could do a more illustrated, line-work based rendition.
Anything special to mention about the artwork?
I had a few friends of mine posed for some of these.
Why were you drawn to work with Chocolate?
It’s Girl/Chocolate! Like all skaters, I have paid attention to most everything they have done from the start and I’ve been a fan forever. Any chance to work with these guys is always a trip, an honor for sure.
What do you have on the horizon?
I’m working on a pretty in-depth series of pro graphics for Girl at the moment. Stay tuned.
Any final words of wisdom?
I gotta get back to drawing …
