Tony Hawk系列滑板游戏应该说是代表了一个时代的游戏，这个游戏让游戏发行公司Activition大赚特赚，也是这个游戏让Tony Hawk走入了大众的世界，在带来不菲收入的同时也达到了事业的顶峰。这款有四极大的推广了滑板运动的发展。我现在还清晰记得当年上大学的时候在小游戏房里租PS2第一次玩Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1的情景... ...日前，该游戏的开发团队Never Soft宣布他们放弃了该游戏的后续开发，我们所心爱的游戏也终于走到了终点,心里很不是滋味啊。
For quite some time, Neversoft survived solely on its once-excellent Tony Hawk franchise; gamers will recall that the first few games in the series were some of the best extreme sports games ever made. Alas, the series has lost a lot of its luster, as more interesting skateboarding games have surpassed Neversoft's aging franchise. Neversoft has now confirmed that it will no longer be making Tony Hawk games.
我觉得NeverSoft放弃开发该系列的原因有几个方面：
1，现在游戏市场上同类游戏越来越多，而且制作水平都很高，以EA的SKATE为代表，对该游戏造成了很大的竞争。
2，Tony Hawk这个招牌的含金量也大不如前，随着大批新鲜面孔的出现，TonyHawk的黄金时代已经一去不复返，很难再吸引年轻一代的目光。
3，Neversoft有了别的赚钱门路，现在最火爆的游戏Guitar Hero系列同样出自他们之手。真是服了他们这帮疯子，总是能做出这么经典的游戏。既然有了新的赚钱门路，自然老产品就先放一放吧。
现在我们就寄希望于EA的SKATE系列吧。
According to president Joel Jewett, Neversoft's time with the franchise that fed the company's employees for so long has come to an end. "It's probably best for the franchise ... it's time for someone else to add fresh ideas to it," Jewett said regarding the decision to pass on the franchise to another team. Neversoft currently plans to continue its recent work with the Guitar Hero franchise.
While the Tony Hawk series was once the best extreme sports one around, there's no question that the series has grown stale—it seems to be for the best that Neversoft has decided to hand it off. Though with the company now focusing on annual reiterations of yet another franchise, one wonders if this was merely a trade of one evil for another.
