Sharing the same date of birth – November 8 – as well as Chinese zodiac sign of the dragon, Steve Caballero and Jahan Loh have come together for a Hong Kong art exhibition aptly titled, “DOUBLE DRAGON.” Living and working in different corners of the world – Caballero in California and Loh in Singapore – each artist finds a way to blend street art, cartoon and illustration in their works. While the California native utilizes his drawings to continually provide a commentary to our need to find goals and purposes, Loh finds away to juxtapose high-end visual pop art with modern street art through his vibrant paintings. Renowned throughout the world, both artists “articulate themselves with the theme of the dragon, reflecting contemporary urban society that has been increasingly influenced by a universal pop culture, globalized by technology and mass media.” In this collaborative showing, a series of paintings, drawings and sculptures from each will be intertwined together.
