This National Day holiday, AVENUE & SON is teaming up with Japan's KASSO, the skate show that's taken the global scene by storm, to make its China debut in Aranya.
Now, we're not only revealing the obstacles for the KASSO China stop, but we also sat down with Boss Xie （founder of Avenue&Son) to get the full story behind the collaboration.
这个国庆期间，AVENUE & SON 大道之子将携手火爆全球滑板圈的日本 KASSO，在阿那亚完成其中国首秀。现在，我们不仅将公布 KASSO 中国站的闯关道具，还和谢汶凯聊了聊本次双方合作的台前幕后。
🎙️ How did you guys link up with KASSO?
We're very good friends with Shimon, who is a consultant for the KASSO production team. The idea actually came about at the beginning of this year. KASSO already had the idea of launching in China, but they weren't sure about the right timing or who to partner with and where to hold the event.
They knew that we had organized two GM competitions, so we started talking. The whole process went very smoothly. Our GM events in China over the past two years have had a great reputation in Japan, and we currently have a few excellent sponsored skaters there. Both sides were happy and in constant communication throughout the whole process. That's how we decided to present the KASSO China debut at the GM competition in Aranya.
🎙️ 你们跟 KASSO 是怎么勾搭上的？
我们跟 Shimon 是非常好的朋友，他是 KASSO 节目组顾问。其实是在今年年初就有这个想法了。KASSO 本来也有想法想在中国落地，只是不知道以什么时机来切入。这个契机很关键，找谁合作？在哪里办等等。
他们也知道我们做了两届 GM 赛事，于是大家就开始交流起来了。整个过程非常顺利。毕竟我们这两年在国内做的 GM 赛事也在日本国内有非常好的影响力，我们目前在日本国内也有几位非常出色赞助滑手。
整个过程双方都是抱着非常开心的状态不断沟通。就这样我们选择了在阿那亚 GM 赛事中呈现出 KASSO 中国首秀。
🎙️ The best part of KASSO is the obstacles. Who designed the Aranya obstacles this time?
The Aranya obstacles were designed by KASSO. They came to Aranya in June of this year and really loved the place. They found the vibe to be very relaxed, and the management of all the facilities completely exceeded their expectations.
As soon as they saw this pool, they immediately decided to hold the event here because they didn't have a venue like it in Japan before. So, everyone got together and had a big brainstorm.
🎙️ KASSO 最出彩的就是道具，这次阿那亚道具是谁设计的？
这次阿那亚的道具是 KASSO 设计的。他们在今年 6 月的时候来到阿那亚。他们特别喜欢阿那亚这个地方，感觉非常休闲，所有设施管理都超乎他们想象。
当他们看到这个泳池就一下子拍板决定在这里。因为之前在日本他们没有像这样的一个场地设施。于是大家脑爆了一波。
After some back-and-forth, the crew decided to build a 40-centimeter-high curved launch ramp at the start, leading to the middle. And for the grand finale, they're building a 20-meter-long undulating rail to serve as the main obstacle for the China debut.
经过一段时间讨论，大家决定在出发时先做一个 40 公分高的弧面抛台到中间，然后在最后做一根 20 米长起伏杠子作为中国首秀的道具。
🎙️ Who's coming for this one? Which domestic skaters will take on the challenge? Is there a registration threshold? And how many people will ultimately participate in the recording?
This time we've invited some old and new friends from KASSO. There's Sora Negishi, and KASSO's host, the Japanese skate legend Junnosuke Yonesaka. Of course, there are also AVENUE & SON's own skaters, Kai and Kaede Terauchi. Plus, some new friends that everyone has surely seen in videos.
🎙️ 这次都会来哪些人？国内哪些滑手会参加挑战，有没有报名门槛？最终参与录制的会是多少人？
我们这次请来了一些 KASSO 老朋友和一些新朋友。根岸空（Sora）还有 KASSO 的主持人日本滑板传奇人物米板淳之介。当然也有大道之子自己滑手 kai 和寺内楓。还有一些新的朋友大家在视频也一定见过。
KASSO is taking its China debut seriously, so the entire production team will be coming over. The show will later be released on TBS television and more online platforms, and will be used to promote Chinese skateboarding across all Japanese media.
Because normally people only see this in videos, for this event, we've set up an open registration in China. Our main goal is to give Chinese skaters a chance to get exposure on this international stage, see themselves on the KASSO show, and experience this awesome obstacle for themselves.
KASSO 非常重视在中国的首秀，所以制作团队人都会过来。后面也会在 TBS 电视台和更多线上平台发布，也会在所有日本媒体去推广中国滑板。
平时大家只能在视频中看到这些，所以国内这次我们设置了公开招募。主要目的是特别想中国滑手能走上这个国际舞台露出，在 KASSO 这档节目中见到自己的身影，也能感受一下这个非常有意思的道具。
🎙️ What impact do you expect KASSO will have?
I can't say for certain what the impact will be right now. But internationally, people are already talking about AVENUE & SON, whether it's in the US, Japan, Brazil, or even Europe. That's because we have a lot of international professional skaters helping us. This is a good thing, and something we are very proud of. Because we are professional skaters, we are doing things that are genuinely helpful for skateboarding.
Domestically, I believe that the brothers and sisters who truly love skateboarding and this culture will be happy and cheer us on in their hearts. We hope to bring KASSO to more cities in China in the future. So, these things may not get an immediate reaction, but time doesn't lie, so let's wait and see.
🎙️ 预计这次 KASSO 会带来哪些影响？
带来哪些影响我目前不能说得很明确。但是在国际上大家已经在讨论大道之子，无论是美国还是日本还是巴西甚至欧洲。因为也有很多国际职业滑手在帮助我们。这是一件好事，也是我们特别自豪的一件事。
正因为我们是专业滑手，我们在做对滑板有帮助的事。在国内，我相信真的热爱滑板，热爱这个文化的这些兄弟姐妹们，他们也会在心底里替我们开心打气。
我们希望未来把 KASSO 带去中国更多城市。所以这些事未必会马上得到反应。但是时间不会骗人让我们拭目以待。
🗺️ On October 5th-6th, skaters will push their limits at the Que Yue Town Riverside Pool as they work to conquer an ultra-long course full of adventure and challenges, completing a "near-impossible" extreme feat.
💰 This KASSO event has a 50,000 RMB prize purse. All skaters who successfully complete the course will split the prize money, but if only one skater makes it, they'll take home the entire 50,000 RMB grand prize alone.
🗺️ 10 月 5 - 6 号，雀跃镇滨河泳池，滑手们将努力征服充满挑战与冒险的超长关卡，完成“近乎不可能”的极限挑战。💰 本次 KASSO 奖金 50,000 元，成功闯关的滑手将平分奖金。若只有一人成功，他将可以独得 5万元大奖。
