Following Skate of Mind’s visit to China back in May, they invited Haizai, Xiaoji, Willam, Hong Kong skater Brian, and filmer Lazy over to Australia in early August. From Australia’s breathtaking landscapes, DIY skateparks, and skate workshops, to stargazing at the Milky Way, landing on the local TV news, and hitting both wild street spots and famous skateparks...
We’ll be sitting down with them soon to record a podcast episode diving deep into all the stories from the trip. But first, check out these photos and video clips for a quick look back at their journey!
在 5 月 Skate of Mind 拜访中国之后，8 月初，他们也邀请嗨仔，小鸡，Will，香港滑手 Brian 和摄影师 Lazy 去到澳洲。从澳大利亚绝美的自然风光，DIY 滑板场，滑板体验教学，到夜晚肉眼看到银河，登上当地电视新闻，打卡野生地形和著名滑板场……
之后，我们也会和他们录一期播客，详细聊聊发生的故事。在此之前，先一起通过这些影像记录，回顾下这趟旅途。
Fresh Off the Boat
On day one in Darwin, Australia, the crew went straight to a local DIY spot. It might not look pretty, but it skates surprisingly well, and everyone got a bunch of tricks down.
在去澳大利亚达尔文的第一天，大家就去到一处 DIY 滑板场。虽然看起来不算精美，但滑起来还是很不错的，一行人留下了不少动作。
Haizai also told us that throughout the trip, most of the skateparks they hit were pretty crusty and aged, with rough concrete surfaces. It wasn't until they got to Sydney that they skated a brand-new park about to open—a absolute dream, top-tier setup. Skaters in China are honestly so spoiled, with clean, new skateparks popping up everywhere.
嗨仔也告诉我们，在整个旅途中，大部分遇到的滑板场都有些年头了，很多都是粗糙的水泥地面。只有在悉尼的时候，才去了一个即将开业的新板场，堪称“moho 样板”。所以在国内真的很幸福，新的场地可以说哪哪都有。
While there, the crew also checked out the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory's Chinese heritage exhibits. Along with taking in the history, they were treated to a proper Chinese tea tasting and got a taste of traditional tea culture.
大家也在这里参观了北澳华人博物馆，在感受文化的同时，也被安排品了品中国特色的茶叶与茶文化。
The Aussie skaters also got to try on traditional Chinese clothing and experience its charm firsthand.
澳洲滑手也体验了一把中国传统服饰的魅力。
Crocodiles & Darwin Skate
During their stay in Darwin, the crew jumped on one of the region's famous tourist attractions—the Crocodile Cruise. After all, Darwin is one of the ultimate spots for sighting massive saltwater crocodiles, both in the wild and in captivity.
在达尔文的旅途中，大家也参加了澳洲很有特色的旅游项目“跳跳鳄鱼游船”。毕竟澳大利亚达尔文也是观赏野生和圈养巨型咸水鳄的胜地。
Of course, no trip would be complete without spending some quality time skating with the local kids at the park. That was pretty much the essence of this Skate of Mind journey—blending natural scenery and local cultural spots with plenty of skate sessions along the way.
当然也少不了在滑板场和当地小朋友共同度过一段愉快的滑板体验时光。其实本次 Skate of Mind 旅途，大家的行程基本就是这样，从自然风光一路参观到滑板场，在感受当地文化的同时，也能一起滑滑板。
Wilderness Survival
Anyone with a bit of Aussie knowledge knows how incredible the ecosystem is over there—stunning landscapes everywhere and tons of wildlife.
On day four, the original plan was to go fishing, but after realizing the river was crawling with crocs, the crew pivoted and headed straight to Kakadu National Park. Kakadu holds one of the highest concentrations of rock art sites in the world, with some paintings estimated to be up to 20,000 years old. These ancient rock paintings tell the story of a deep, enduring cultural connection between Indigenous Australians and their land that continues to this day.
了解一点澳大利亚的朋友应该知道，这里的生态非常不错，有很多壮美的风景和大量野外动物。第四天的时候，大家原本计划去钓鱼，但发现河里也全是鳄鱼……于是就变道去拜访了卡卡杜国家公园。这里是拥有世界上最集中的岩画遗址群之一，有的岩画估计已有 2 万年的历史了。这些岩画也记录着原住民与这片土地之间延续至今的文化联系。
Haizai was completely blown away by the natural landscape in Australia. 'I was already exhausted after that 40-minute hike,' he said, 'but once we got inside, the view was so breathtaking I just didn't want to leave... The open plains and massive rock formations look straight out of Jurassic Park, like a T-Rex could burst out hunting at any second. It’s unbelievably beautiful.
嗨仔也被澳洲的生态环境所震撼，他说：“本来徒步 40 分钟，我已经累了，但进去以后被景色震撼到，又不想走了……这里的平原和大石堆，像随时有霸王龙跑出狩猎一样，美得不像话。”
Hippie Village Camping
During their camping trip in the 'Hippie Village,' the skaters first pitched in to fix up the damaged miniramp. and right after that, pure skate mayhem broke out! Heavy moves all around!
在“嬉皮村”的露营之旅，滑手也一同先帮助修复了这里破损的滑板场。随后就是一场关于滑板的“狂轰乱炸”。
Darwin Skate Exchange
After checking out the breathtaking waterfalls at Litchfield National Park, the crew hit the local skatepark for a session with the kids.
在李治菲特国家公园，跳过绝美的瀑布之后，大家也来到滑板场和小朋友们进行了一场滑板交流。
Back to the City - Sydney
From local bowls to classic skateshops... in Sydney, the crew finally emerged from the wilderness and returned to the city to get a real taste of the street spots here.
从碗池，到滑板店……在悉尼，大家终于走出野外，回到了城市，好好体验一把这里的街头地形。
The day before heading to Sydney, Sam unfortunately broke his arm on the big ramp while trying to lock in one last perfect clip. The whole crew ended up signing his cast with get-well messages, wishing him a speedy recovery.
Sam 因为在出发悉尼的前一天，在大 ramp 上不慎摔伤了手臂（他想再拍一个完美的动作），大家也在他的石膏上留下了许多祝福语，希望他快点好起来。

As Haizai put it: 'Overall, this was hands-down the best skate tour I've ever been on—solid 5-star rating.' Big thanks to the Australian Government, the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations, and the Australian social arts organization Big hART for their invitation and full support throughout the journey.
Although the trip has come to an end, the wild crocodiles, breathtaking nature, crusty skateparks, riders, and all the stories along the way will definitely stay with everyone in their own special way—as long as nobody gets nightmares about crocs and giant bugs, that is...
That’s honestly one of the best parts about skate-and-travel. In the end, it’s not just about what tricks you landed where, but who you were with and what you encountered along the ride.
